How To Backorder For A Domain Name – Part II

How To Backorder For A Domain Name - Part II

As an expired domain trader looking for a good domain name, you may face a number of difficulties and challenges like fierce competition, lightening quick registration by your competitors and exorbitantly higher buying prices. To avoid all these hassles and to buy very good domain names, you can use a number of domain backordering models offered by well known backordering services. Here are some of the famous and recognized domain backordering models made available by backordering firms:

First Model that offers services by individual and separate registrars:

Some well-known registrars offer this model by refusing to delete the expiring domain name especially at stage 2. However, they may assign a particular domain name to an individual, who has paid the required fee to backorder the domain. Examples of registrars are: http://GoDaddy.com and http://eNom.com.

Second Model that offers services with the help of Coordinated Registrars:

This model offers a single window, application point for backordering a domain by multi-registrars. You may need to submit a request through http://SnapName.com web portal which eventually works with the registrar of a particular domain just before the final deletion. Examples of registrars are: Network Solutions.

Third Model that offers services with the help of the Registry:

All of us know that VeriSign controls the registry and it has the power to guarantee that any domain names deleted at stage 2 is redistributed to an interested buyer, who has registered to VeriSign’s much hyped Waiting List Service or WLS. Any ICAAN registered and approved registrars can offer this service. It offers you two distinctive parameters when compared to a standard registrar type of model.

a) First, registrars offer this to those people, who can opt to offer a particular domain to their customers,

b) Second, only the registry has the complete control over the domain names that reside in the third stage

Tip: If there are no pending backorder requests for any domains forwarded through WLS, the said domain name will advance to the fourth stage after which dedicated software can grab it for immediate purchase.

Fourth Model that offers services by using automated registration software:

You can capture those domains that pass the registry at sixth stage. Using good software, you can send electronic requests for registering a domain with the help of an ICAAN accredited registrar. However, this is perhaps the most famous model that poses you several challenges that concerns how quickly you are grabbing an expired domain name. With good software, you can post simultaneous requests at the same time.

Fifth Model that offers you service by using a Multi-model Strategy:

To enhance your chances of winning a good domain name, you may need to use all the above mentioned strategies and models by subscribing to respective services. However, a number of expired domain name traders are approaching VeriSign to use their WLS service to bypass the registrars, who always delete expiring domain names paid and registered through them, provided there is not backorder requests made against those domains. All these models require considerable amount of skills and dedication from you, before you can grab a good expiring domain name.

Quite simply, nobody thought of it. Remember, back then, folks weren't nearly as net-savvy as they are now, and no-one thought that domain names would go for the sort of crazy money being asked for them now.
The purpose for which the net was originally programmed (of exchanging information/data between scientists) never even envisaged the sort of net we have now. By the time folks started to realise what was happening, it was way too late for anyone to try this sort of stunt–they'd have needed the resources of Lichtenstein, the Bahamas and the gnomes of Zurich all rolled into one. Maybe this is a good thing–after all, can you imagine what would happen if someone like Bill Gates got control over domain names??

Not if the search engines catch you. Than bad things will happen to your search ranking.

In my experience, It's much more effective to simply blog (v6transition.com) about your site and to have a facebook (facebook.com) account for your site.

If you want maximum $$ list with Sedo or submit to a Moniker auction. Could take a while to sell but best bet for top dollar for real premium names.

If you are in a hurry to sell try EBay or a domain name forum where resellers hangout like DNForum, NamePros, NameMatters. You are unlikely to get the best price at these venues but they should result in a quick sale if price is flexible.

    Check out Afternic and TDNam.

There are hundreds of domain name sales pages on the web that will accept your listing, many for free.

You could attempt to sell directly to an end user by contacting businesses/individuals that might want to use the name. Time consuming, but end user sales are nearly always the best way to get top dollar.

Best way to sell depends on the name, how quickly you wish to sell and whether you want top dollar or will settle for something less.

Most domain name parking companies do not allow outside promotion or linking to parked pages. Check your terms of service before you try anything.

You should be able to select the keywords on your page, however most search engines will not index a parked page. The key is to have a good domain name that receives a lot of type in traffic.

This is in no way an investment. Investing indicates a reasonable potential gain while this is pure speculation and probably better termed gambling.

His advice is unbelievably stupid (probably the worst advice ever) and you need to fire him this second. He probably wears slip on shoes because he can't figure out how to tie regular ones. Ask him this question… How can I be sure that http://www.findMYdreamgirl.com, FindINGyourdreamgirl.com, findyourdreamGUYORgirl.com,www.fydg.com, etc aren't the next match.com. The value of a domain is based on traffic and it's unlikely that http://www.findyourdreamgirl.com will generate any. What is the incentive for women (read 50% of the population) to go there? This could be an adult site but with millions and millions of those sites why would yours be any better? If there isn't a bullet proof answer to that one (and just so you know in advance THERE ISN'T) then you have your answer.

I'm not quite sure what kind of business you would be trying to build is it selling tires or is it selling women? I think both markets are pretty much saturated at this point (or rightfully illegal).

I recommend that instead of doing this you throw a massive block party and show everyone what it's like to burn money in a big pile that will be a huge hit. Invite your ex advisor because he's probably very famaliar with the process of burning money (after all look at his advice).
